South
Africa:
The best summer travel options in
South Africa are Cape Town and the Garden Route. Summer brings
extreme heat and regular afternoon showers to much of Southern
Africa, but Cape Town and the Garden Route, with their hot
and dry summer months and beautiful beaches are ideal destinations.
Very popular at this time of year, it is advisable to book
flights and accommodation as early as possible as it is not
unusual to find first choice accommodation fully booked months
before the summer holidays in South Africa.
Namibia:
Summer in Namibia is characterised by extreme heat in the south and rains in the north, which can make a visit at this time of the year uncomfortable and dirt roads difficult to negotiate
Botswana & the Victoria Falls:
Although this is the peak of the rainy season the afternoon thunder showers tend to cool the heat of the day and pass quickly, and with special off season prices to be found a visit to one of Africa's best preserved wilderness destinations is certainly worth considering.
Islands of Mozambique:
Ideal for those that enjoy sunning themselves on the beach or diving in the warm tropical water on hot days averaging 30 C with warm nights. Although November to March is considered the rainy season the Bazaruto Archipelago is a year round destination.
