Cape Town Township Tour (Half Day)

Overview:

Uthando offers unique and authentic philanthropic cultural tours to the underprivileged areas and townships of Cape Town. On these tours projects that receive funding and other forms of assistance from Uthando and its benefactors are visited. Participants on the field trip are offered a rare insight into the remarkable stories that make life in South Africa so interesting, dynamic and, in many cases, inspiring. The tours are interactive, meeting the people at the projects, learning firsthand about their work and way of life. By booking a tour with Uthando, participants are also assisting the projects on a financial level.

Itinerary:

Tour itineraries are tailor-made prior to departure and typically include visits to three or four different projects. The specific interests of the participants and the levels of local activity at the various projects will help dictate which projects are included

• Transport and services of a registered specialist driver-guide
• Tea or coffee
• Donations to all projects visited

• While the townships are safe, it is best to take precautions - please leave valuables in your hotel (e.g. jewellery, expensive watches etc).
• Items for donation, such as stationery, clothes etc. are appreciated.  They will be handed to the director of the project, not directly to recipients (eg children).
• Uthando supports the Masande Arts and Crafts Centre in Khayelitsha, please bring sufficient cash to purchase arts and crafts at this stop during the tour.
