Overview:

Experience a unique, two day, luxury train journey through varied and truly African scenery. From Pretoria, Rovos Rail's luxurious train meanders out of South Africa, through Botswana and into Zimbabwe, where the journey ends at Victoria Falls. Highlights of the journey include crossing the tropic of Capricorn in the dry reaches of Botswana, spotting animals from the train in Hwangwe Game Reserve, a stop at Thompson’s Junction and of course the many recreational opportunities around the incomparable Victoria Falls.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Rovos Rail FB
Your 1,600 km African adventure begins at 10h00 in the morning as the luxurious train departs Rovos Rail's gracious station at Capital Park in Pretoria and slowly meanders westwards. Lunch is served in the dining car en route to Zeerust, and, in the afternoon, mingle with other travellers in the observation car or the midway lounge.

Day 2: Rovos Rail FB
Crossing the border with Botswana at Mafikeng the train then sweeps north, breaching the Tropic of Capricorn just after Gaborone. Sit back and relax as the African scenery unfurls from the window of your carriage. Having passed through the dry reaches of Botswana you then arrive at Plumtree in the late afternoon, for border formalities with Zimbabwe. In the evening a sumptuous dinner is served before retiring to your carriage for the night.

Day 3: Rovos Rail FB

After breakfast in the train continues in a north-westerly direction, passing Bulawayo and heading towards Thompson’s Junction and the Hwangwe Game Reserve where wildlife can be spotted from the train. After a final lunch on board the train your sojourn ends at the incomparable Victoria Falls on the mighty Zambezi River where many recreational opportunities await you.
