Day 1 & 2: Panorama Route
As you fly into Nelspruit airport, the gateway to the Kruger National Park, you will be met by one of our representatives who will be happy to answer any questions you might have and who will help you with the collection of your car, mobile phone, maps and travel information.
You now have a short 10 minute drive to the quaint little farming centre of White River and on to your accommodation at Jatinga Country Lodge. For sheer scenic beauty, few parts of the southern African subcontinent compare with the area known as the Escarpment. Visit the historically reconstructed gold mining town of Pilgrim’s Rest dating back to 1873, view some of the many waterfalls that abound in the area and drive the famous Panorama Route stopping to gaze at spectacular viewpoints such as ‘God’s Window’ and ‘The Three Rondavels.’ Alternatively relax by the pool at your accommodation, soak up the sun and take in the surrounding scenery.
Characterised by charm and tranquillity Jatinga is a dreamland of undulating emerald green lawns, luxurious accommodation and personal service only a short drive away from the scenic Escarpment. Luxurious rooms, each with its own individual patio, are elegantly furnished with each one revealing something unusual and unique. Between outings enjoy high tea on the colonial-style veranda, relax by the poolside or savour a sundowner on the elevated deck overlooking the flowing White River and, in the evening, enjoy the fine meals prepared at the lodge.
Day 3 & 4: Manyeleti Game Reserve (150 kms)
After 2 days of relaxing and visiting the Escarpment, you now make your way to the borders of the Kruger National Park, in the hart of Big Five "big game tour" country, and onto the private game reserves of the Manyeleti. Here morning and evening game drives in open 4x4 vehicles bring you into close contact with the Big Five effortlessly and safely and highly experienced guides will take you on foot to bring into clear focus the magic of the bush with its myriads of busy insects and resplendent birdlife.
Rediscover Hemingway's Africa at Honeyguide Tented Safari Camp and capture the memory of a bygone era, filled with both adventure and romance. You will be accommodated at Mantobeni Camp, where you will be in close and personal touch with your environment without sacrificing the comforts and security you expect of a luxury safari. The camp has been designed to reflect the simplicity and openness of African living. The large en suite tents are comfortably furnished in contemporary style and have either double or twin beds made up with fine cotton sheets and down duvets. A double shower and separate toilet are provided and a private veranda in front of the tent provides a restful seating area for you to absorb the atmosphere in peace and tranquillity.
Day 5 & 6: Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve (165 kms)
After an early morning game drive and brunch in Hoheyguide you now travel to your next bush destination: the private game reserves of the exclusive Sabi Sands game reserve. The Sabi-Sands was named after the Sabi and the Sand rivers, both of which flow through the reserve. It is the largest private game reserve in South Africa covering 65,000 hectares of bush on the western boundary of the Kruger National Park and is made up of 15 or so private properties, all of which are dedicated to wildlife conservation. However no fences separate the different properties and there are no fences separating the Sabi-Sands with the Kruger park game researve either - effectively making this region a part of the Greater Kruger National Park, one of the richest wildlife regions on the continent.
Built under towering knobthorn and Jackalberry trees Idube combines the peace and tranquillity of the unspoilt bush with the friendly comfort of a bush lodge. Each of the 10 chalets is individually designed and equipped with air conditioning, en suite facilities and an outdoor shower, while central facilities include a swimming pool, dining room, curio shop and an open-air boma. A game viewing deck with a swing bridge leads to a sunken hide, ideal for bird watching, watching the elephants bathing or the lions coming down to quench their thirst. Meals are a social occasion and a highlight of the day is dinner in the boma around a glowing fire, or enjoying a hearty bush breakfast from the thatched decks, whilst sitting back and enjoying the game.
Spend the next two days on morning and evening game drives, joining game walks or simply relaxing around the swimming pool under a magnificent Jackalberry tree and identifying which feathered visitors come calling.
